SOUTH WEST COMMUNITY CHOIR CONVENTIONS 2019
ST.GEORGE’S, BRISTOL

SUNDAY 17TH MARCH & SUNDAY 7TH APRIL

Dear Choir Leaders and Choir Administrators,

It’s that time of year again! We very much hope that you’d like to return to, or bring your choir for the first time to sing at St. Georges for next year’s choir conventions. I’m Leela and I’ll be taking over the admin side from Karine and my Dad Nickomo, whom many of you probably know, will be leading at the conventions themselves. Thank you to Karine and Nick for producing such a wonderful event for all these years!

Places at the conventions will be filled on a first come, first served basis, so if you’d like to join in, we’ll need to know which date you’d like to attend, and whether you’d be able to come to the other date if your first choice is already full.  Please also let us know your guesstimate numbers so that we can allocate spaces for you.

We’d like to hear from you by 19th October with your choir name(s) and 1st/2nd choice dates. We will let you know if your first choice is successful, and send you full booking details. We can then firm up the numbers by the end of choir terms in November/early December at the latest.

As most of you will know, St Georges has undergone a great deal of building work and this is reflected in their new hire fees.  Due to these and other costs, we are raising the price of a ticket to £15.  As usual, choir leaders get a free ticket.  You’ll be relieved to hear that we won’t need payment until the end of January, unless you want to pay earlier!!

We’d be grateful if you can please reply to this email even if you’re not able to attend next year, or you are no longer in a choir leader or admin role, then we can keep our records up to date.

See attached a general information sheet about the convention and also a flier which you can circulate to your choir members.

We look forward to hearing back from you and welcoming you to St George’s in Spring 2019.

Best wishes,

Leela and Nickomo

A camp for singers and their families on a beautiful field in Dorset two miles from the sea.

Workshops start Friday evening and end Monday evening.
We will learn all sorts of songs together: Harmonic Temple, songs from Taizé,
short songs from around the world and longer performance songs under the guidance of the following experienced and inspiring community choir leaders:
Dee Jarlett, Ali Orbaum
Nickomo & Rasullah Clarke
Nick Petts, Claire Anstee

This camp offers the experience of joyful companionship and aims to be an uplifting holistic event. If you are a supporting family member rather than a singer, there’s plenty for you too with camping circle friendships, beautiful walks and the sea nearby.

Adults £130* /Children (5-18) £60
* if pre-booked; or £150 if you just turn up at the gate!
People are encouraged to camp in circles and co-operate in the preparation of meals for which firewood is provided.
We ask for individual responsibility and sensitivity regarding noise,
alcohol, use of mobiles and the cooking of meat.
The camp takes place in a beautiful field among rolling Dorset hills, containing water-points, willow-toilets, and a gas shower.
There is a large marquee for the choir meetings, a marquee for
children’s activities and a smaller café marquee.
Children are welcome to join in with the singing and alternative activities will also be provided for over 5s during daytime workshops, plus there will be teens and tweens singing sessions and an early evening storytime.
